NZ Clean Energy

Developing a clean, green future for New Zealand.

NZ Clean Energy are dedicated to providing a sustainable future for the energy sector through the development and construction of utility scale renewable energy installations. We believe a movement away from fossil fuels is needed both for environmental and social reasons, and as such we develop sites that provide clean, safe and efficient electricity by harnessing the power of renewable energy.

  • NZ Clean Energy develop, build, manage and operate utility scale renewable energy projects across New Zealand in order to provide a green and renewable energy source to meet modern needs.

NZ Clean Energy is a developer, installer and long term owner of utility scale renewable energy projects, including wind, solar photovoltaic (PV) and battery storage.

NZCE are dedicated to providing a sustainable future for the energy sector through the development and construction of utility scale renewable energy installations. We believe a movement away from fossil fuels is needed both for environmental and social reasons, and as such we develop sites that provide clean, safe and efficient electricity by harnessing the power of renewable resources.

  • 1. What makes a good site?

    • Close to grid infrastructure - substation or powerlines.

    • 15ha+ of land available.

    • Flat and clear of vegetation (within reason).

    • Good access.

    2. Can I still farm the land?

    • Absolutely, you can continue farming the land as normal until construction (we keep you abreast of our timings and process).

    • Following construction, we actively encourage you to graze sheep in the fields and keep the land in agricultural use.

    3. What are the timeframes from start to finish?

    • The development process for such a project can take from 2-4 years.

    • Construction will take ~12-18 months.

    • The project will be operational for a minimum of 40 years.

    4. What is involved in the process?

    • Once we have land secured, we will go and secure planning consent and approval to connect the system to the electricity grid. All of this work and associated costs are completed and covered by us.

    5. Do I need to invest any money?

    • No money is required from your side. We simply ask for some of your time to approve plans and concepts.

    6. Will a battery be included?

    • Yes we will look to utilise an energy storage battery where possible.

    7. Will there be any noise?

    • There will be a small level of noise but all noise emissions will remain under regulation guidelines. We actively work to minimise this impact.

    8. Will there be any screening?

    • Yes we will screen the project with native vegetation where needed.

    9. Is there any glint / glare and further emissions?

    • The purpose of solar panels is to absorb power so any reflection demonstrates panels are not doing their ‘job’. They have an anti reflective coating on them as well.

    • No further emissions (heat, EMFs)

    10. Will my land and soil be disturbed?

    • There will be ground disturbance during construction for trenching and post ramming of the mounting frame. However we will minimise this where possible.

    • We acknowledge that any soil impacted will release carbon into the atmosphere and this is not what we are aiming to achieve.

Our Plan

~2 GWp Pipeline solar, wind and battery storage.

~4,200 gWh Clean, reliable energy.

~700,000 Family homes powered.

Equivalent of 1,000,000 petrol cars, off the road

~3,000 Construction jobs created.

~150 Service job opportunities.

Our Key Objectives

Contribute towards a sustainable and secure future for the energy sector to help combat climate change.

Provide land owners with a financially viable diversification option, benefiting next generation farmers.

Encourage biodiversity and create new wildlife habitats on sites.

Bring energy and education benefits to local communities and schools.

Job creation for the local communities during the construction and operational phases.

The Benefits of Solar Power

Energy security:

Our projects produce energy for use in the local area, providing increased energy security for both the local area and wider network.

Biodiversity Enhancements:

Our projects maintain their agriculture links with sites used for grazing in addition we plant vegetation around and through the project for biodiversity and screening purposes.

Local construction job opportunities:

Our projects create jobs for local workers, during construction each projects generates over 100 jobs, ranging from electrical work to security and groundworks.

Local business tender opportunity:

We actively encourage local businesses to contact us to register their interest in providing services to our projects.

Post construction job opportunities:

A number of jobs are created post construction such as maintenance, general testing, inspecting of electrics and general site maintenance and upkeep.

Educational visits:

We promote visits to our projects (post construction) to local schools and community groups wishing to visit to understand more about renewable energy and what is involved.

Community Consciousness

NZ Clean Energy are enthusiastic to work with, and engage, with local communities and groups, to both introduce the public to solar PV and educate them on its benefits. As such our sites will hold open days for local communities.
